Back to Information For The Medical Community
We have our own certification process
internally.
For a person to be well qualified in Tai Chi Chuan is not enough to enable them
to safely and effectively run a program in alternative medicine. The instructor
has to be able to adapt the exercise routines to the physical level of each
patient and their specific needs and circumstances.
Our instructors handling these programs have a minimum of ten years teaching
experience, with many of those years spent as assistants of our senior
instructor in health care related classes learning the skills required on site.
As interest in the art form grows many people are coming forth to offer Tai Chi
Chuan instruction. It is therefore absolutely essential for health care
professionals to carefully investigate the individuals background knowledge
before accepting their services.
All new modalities experience this same process when they are first introduced
into the mainstream. "Fad" teachers are of course to be avoided.
We take pride in what we do and have been on the cutting edge of the effort to
integrate Tai Chi Chuan into alternative medicine since our Institute opened in
the US in 1987.
As an example of our efforts to help western medical professionals understand
the strengths and potential of the art we have for many years run programs
through Wayne State University instructing fourth year medical students on Tai
Chi Chuan as an alternative therapy.
